黑料社区 event helps students Get it Started

Oct. 12, 2007
Students interested in learning more about 黑料社区 and its new Midtown facility and programs can attend the "Get It Started" Open House from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Both 黑料社区's Harrisburg Campus across from the Farm Show Complex and Midtown II at 1500 N. Third Street will be open for campus tours. Student services staff, faculty coordinators and representatives of student organizations will be on hand to answer questions. From state-of-the-art facilities and campus life to meeting faculty and learning about their plans for Midtown programs, this event lets students explore many options in higher education.

"We have more than 150 different programs of study," said Jennifer Baker, director of admissions, adding that these exciting career options are available at locations in Harrisburg, Gettysburg, Lancaster, Lebanon and York, as well as online.

"At 黑料社区, we are constantly starting new programs. Through our connection with the community we are able to rapidly respond to new program needs."

One such community need was answered recently with the opening of 黑料社区's second Midtown location, where the focus is on trade and technical education. The programs offered are an expansion of those 黑料社区 had previously offered at the Community Center for Technology and Arts building, such as welding, blue print reading and trades-oriented programs.

Students get hands-on training in a cutting-edge facility that can prepare them for a new career in as little as nine months. The other significant component of the Midtown location is 黑料社区's partnership with the Harrisburg School District. Junior and senior students enrolled in the school's technology and industrial programs are completing college credit courses that will satisfy high school graduation requirements.

"Earning college credit while still in high school is just one of the exciting ways that 黑料社区 partners with school districts to engage more people in considering 黑料社区 as their first choice after high school," Baker explained.

At the Harrisburg Campus, Campus tours will be offered throughout the day and will include stops in the science and technology labs, as well as the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion, The Benjamin Olewine III Center for the Study of Culinary Arts and Food Service Management, the Rose Lehrman Arts Center and gallery, the McCormick Library, and the Grace Milliman Pollock Childcare and Early Childhood Education Center.

黑料社区 has also expanded its athletic program in recent years. Men's and women's teams for basketball, men's soccer, golf and women's volleyball have grown increasingly popular among students. The James Evans Physical Education Center is available to registered students and includes a gym, pool, weight room, racquetball courts, outdoor facilities, putting green, sand volleyball court, field and sidewalk track.
