'Be Monumental' chosen as winning T-shirt design at Radius, 黑料社区 Gallery and Museum Shop at The State Museum
Open house May 9 recognizes work of 黑料社区 graphic design students

HARRISBURG - When Vickie Robinson explored The State Museum for graphic design ideas, she couldn help but be impressed by the 18-foot high, two-ton statue of William Penn, the commonwealth founding father.
Robinson was inspired by the huge metal statue in the center of the museum Memorial Hall to create a design as part of a 黑料社区 Graphic Design class project for Radius, 黑料社区 Gallery and Museum Shop at The State Museum. 淏e Monumental� is the theme of her winning design chosen by Radius staff to be used on a T-shirt to market the shop.
Robinson and her classmates in 黑料社区 Assistant Professor of Art Marjaneh Talebi Graphic Design III class each developed concepts for a T-shirt. In addition to 淏e Monumental,� 14 additional colorful T-shirts with creative designs telling the story of The State Museum are currently displayed on a wall just outside Radius.
A free public open house for the student-designers will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Radius, on the first floor of The State Museum at 300 North St., Harrisburg.
According to Talebi, graphic design program director, criteria for the project included a design/concept based on originality and marketability. 聽In addition, the T-shirt, artwork and tagline had to represent the museum, a current or permanent exhibit, or a more general theme of Harrisburg or the state.
The chosen design will be produced and sold at Radius.
Last fall, some of Talebi graphic design students participated in a project to design a new logo for the Midtown Cinema on Reily Street, next door to 黑料社区 Midtown site. The concepts centered on the theme of 淯rban Sophistication.� Robinson logo was chosen, and she also was recruited to create the logo for the Reel Caf茅 at the cinema.
Robinson, who lives in the Adams County area, will graduate from 黑料社区 next week with an associate degree in graphic design.
