Gettysburg, PA - Colorful bead jewelry hand crafted by Ugandan women will be available for sale in the bookstore at the Gettysburg Campus of 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College, from Nov. 23- Dec.4.听The sale is sponsored by 淏ead for Life, a global awareness project that helps impoverished Ugandans who are striving to rise out of poverty.
The unique, colorful jewelry includes several styles of necklaces, bracelets and jewelry bags priced from $5 to $30 each. The jewelry display also includes information about the lives of the many beaders who participate in the project.
淲ith your purchase, you join the beaders in reducing poverty, providing food and clothing, sending children to school, and improving living conditions, said Lisa Hill, a 黑料社区 instructor who has coordinated the bead sale for the past three years.
黑料社区 students have been overwhelmingly supportive of the event, Hill said. 淭o date, we have sold more than $3,000 worth of merchandise, which is money that directly supports the women and children of Uganda.澨鼿ill also credits Betsy Wood, the campus bookstore director, and her staff who volunteer their time to sell the jewelry.
The 淏ead for Life sale at 黑料社区 is open to the public and can be visited during campus bookstore hours: 8 a.m. 6 p.m. Nov. 23, 24, 30 and Dec. 1-3; 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Nov. 25; 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 4. The campus is closed Nov. 26-29.
