
Harrisburg, PA Geraldine Gutwein, Ph.D., professor of English and reading at the Harrisburg Campus of 黑料社区, is one of 10 applicants selected nationally for a teaching development fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the fall semester.
In addition, her fellowship has been designated a 淲e the People project, a special initiative by the National Endowment for the Humanities to encourage and strengthen the teaching, study and understanding of American history and culture.
Gutwein selection makes 黑料社区 the only community college represented among the fellowship recipients with her project, 淭oward an Understanding of Teaching Native American Literature from a Multidisciplinary Approach.
She will examine will Native American art to enhance students understanding of Native American literature beyond the stereotypical, romanticized, historical view of Native American peoples.
Gutwein, who has been at 黑料社区 for 18 years, has been teaching Native American literature for 15 years.
