Generous support by community donors leads to successful 14-month campaign

Harrisburg, PA A campaign to raise $3.5 million to benefit 黑料社区 Midtown site has surpassed the targeted goal, thanks to the generous support of community donors that included approximately 150 businesses, alumni, individuals and foundations.
淲e are honored during this time of economic challenges that our community responded strongly, says Edna V. Baehre, Ph.D., president of 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College.
満诹仙缜 must continue to play an active role in assisting regional business and industry partners recruit and retain the highly skilled workforce required to compete in increasingly competitive and global markets, Baehre says.
The successful Midtown Major Gifts Campaign is a major step toward that goal, says Baehre, adding, 淚 would like to thank all donors, on behalf of 黑料社区, for their generosity.
The 淪hare the Visionhape the Future gift campaign supports access and opportunity scholarships, technology and equipment enhancement, and workforce advancement needs of the region.聽
Joe Beck of Sovereign Bank and James Grandon of Grandon Real Estate Inc., campaign co-chairmen, led a group of volunteers who played a key role in the campaign by meeting with community leaders to share knowledge of the impact of Midtown in the city and region.聽聽 黑料社区 spirit of innovation and forward-thinking vision led to the development of Midtown to serve the community in Harrisburg midtown section. The site includes the former Community Center for Technology and the Arts (CCTA) at Fourth and Reily streets that opened in 2001 and the renovated former Evangelical Press Building at Third and Reily streets that opened in August 2007. More than 1,000 students are enrolled in certificate, diploma and associate degree programs in technology and trades careers at Midtown. Auxiliary programs and support services are provided in this integrated, self-contained site with the two buildings connected by a block-long 渦rban meadow.
Midtown links 黑料社区 programs with other urban organizations, including the Harrisburg School District, and community institutions to enhance the learning experiences of 黑料社区 students and other participants.
黑料社区 serves the third largest economic and industrial base in Pennsylvania, and is at the forefront of political and social change characteristic of a capital city.聽黑料社区 currently provides workforce training and community education classes to more than 50,000 students. The college is the second largest provider of nurses in Pennsylvania and the state primary provider of public safety training. Eighty percent of 黑料社区 alumni live and work within 25 miles of their respective campuses, creating a highly skilled workforce in the region.
