LANCASTER Learn the ropes of selling, building capability and confidence along with connecting in valuable networking opportunities at the sixth annual Women on the Move conference, 淐onfident, Capable, Connected!, in the East Building at the Lancaster Campus of 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College.
Lancaster-area entrepreneurs will share their success stories at the full-day learning and networking event held 7:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the campus, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike. It is presented by 黑料社区 Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and women entrepreneurs from across the region are invited.
Since 2004, Women on the Move has traveled to 黑料社区 campuses in Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon and York, delivering useful resources and tangible advice for female entrepreneurs.
淓ach year it involves different communities, and this year wee excited to be bringing it to Lancaster, said Fran Verotsky, executive director of 黑料社区 Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies. 淔ocusing on one location brings a sense of community and allows us to get assistance from that community and get the very best speakers.
The morning keynote speaker is Laura Schanz, of Laura Schanz and Associates in Lancaster, a consulting firm providing assessment, strategic planning, organizational development and more services for businesses.
Schanz presentation 淪elling From The Inside Out will offer values-driven, solutions-based sales training that helps to build relationships and stay a step ahead of the competition and achieve better sales performance.
Luncheon speaker Dr. Lucia Murphy of Lancaster, also known as 淒octor Murph, will focus on 淟eading in Lean Times. Well-known for her wit and enthusiasm, she is the author of 淟eaderSpeak: 7 Conversations that Create Sustainable Success.
Other presenters at this year Women on the Move include:
  • Carol Deckert, a netweaving/networking coach for RUN (Referrals Unlimited Network) in Lancaster. Deckert uses 渘etweaving as a 渟pin on the traditional networking process outside the traditional 淲hat can you do for me? and transforms the approach to 淲hat can I do for you?
  • Heather Leed of Peapod Photography in Ephrata
  • David Nickeloff of the Lancaster County Economic Development Company
Breakout session topics cover planning and marketing basics for starting a business, successful marketing in a tough economy, Web site basics, introduction to social media marketing and financing your own business. All presented by Lancaster area entrepreneurs and agency representatives.
IES works with many businesses and organizations to make events like Women on the Move possible. Sponsors of the 2009 conference in Lancaster include Fulton Bank Small Business Center, Central Penn Business Journal, Business Womanand Ben Franklin Technology Partners and Lancaster Chamber of Commerce.
Registration of $45 includes breakfast and lunch, with Women on the Move 2008 limited to the first 100 people. Each attendee will receive a free regional resource guide. Free parking is available.
