On Earth Day April 22 Julia Knight, 黑料社区 environmental science instructor, left, Rachel Brillhart, customer service representative for Consolidated Scrap Resources in York, center, and Debra Barry, marketing and communications manager for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA in Hershey, designated a spot on the parking lot on the west side of 黑料社区 Harrisburg Campus for a container to collect magazines and glossy paper for recycling.
The public can bring these materials 24/7 to the container at the college Entrance 3 off Industrial Road for recycling. 淕lossy paper includes magazines, catalogs, brochures, fliers, newspaper inserts as long as the pages are slick and glossy. Newspapers or telephone books are not accepted.
More than $88,000 has been raised for the Ronald McDonald House since 2004 through the recycling of 3,748 tons of glossy paper. The paper will be collected from the container and sent to the Consolidated Scrap Resources plant in Lebanon for treatment and sold as a commodity. The proceeds go directly to operational expenses at the Ronald McDonald House like heat and electricity.
