York, PA � Dan Ball wasn sure what he was going to do when he lost his landscaping job. His answer came in 黑料社区 accelerated diploma in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
聽The program offered at 黑料社区-York Campus gave Ball, 32, the chance to get the training he needed in just one semester of study, which meant he could start looking for a job in his field sooner � a good thing since he has a family to support.
聽淚 knew nothing about HVAC, but I knew I wanted job security, and this is a field where there will always be a demand,� said Ball, who got a job at Haller Enterprises in Mechanicsburg after earning his diploma. 淎t 黑料社区, the training covered everything I needed to know. I檓 very grateful for the program.�
Prospective students and the public are invited to an HVAC open house from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the William F. Goodling Center on the campus at 2101 Pennsylvania Ave., York. The next class begins Aug. 23, with successful graduates ready to seek employment by December.
聽The program, which qualifies under 黑料社区 targeted retraining program for dislocated workers that offers free tuition, provides hands-on, practical skills needed for an entry-level position in a high-demand occupation. Using 黑料社区 well-equipped HVAC lab, students learn to install, repair and maintain heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Graduates work as service technicians, equipment installers or HVAC maintenance technicians. Graduates also can continue their studies for a certificate and/or an associate degree in HVAC.
