黑料社区-Gettysburg Campus's personal enrichment programs offer something for everyone

Gettysburg, PA Whether your interests are in history, personal enrichment or a myriad of topics in between, 黑料社区-Gettysburg Campus offers personal enrichment classes this spring with something for everyone.
听听听听听听听听聽聽聽 Classes meet at the campus, unless otherwise noted. Among the offerings are:
  • 听听听听 Writing a Column offered 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, June 9-23, at a cost of $59. Look at how newspaper columns differ from each other, and from other types of articles; pick a potential topic and style; and brainstorm ideas.
  • 聽聽聽 聽Adams County Hidden Treasures Bus Trip, offered from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at a cost of $35. Adams County is known for the Gettysburg Battlefield, but it also has many fascinating, beautiful, scenic and interesting other places. Some highlights include The Adams County Fruit Belt, Michaux State Forest, the Appalachian Trail, the statue of Mary Jameson, old stone and wooden bridges, early churches and other landmarks of which you might not be aware.
  • 听听听听 Introduction to Aromatherapy, offered at the East Berlin Area Community Center, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at a cost of $25. Delight your senses and learn about this age-old healing technique. From the soothing scents of lilac and lavender to the stimulating scents of citrus and cinnamon, this class will look at the uses of aromatherapy and how to apply them in your own life.
  • 听听听听 How to Motivate Yourself and Others, offered from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at a cost of $29. There is only one person responsible for you and that is you! This unique class brings together hundreds of real-life examples, advice, tips, techniques, and exercises to show you how to draw on your inner creativity, develop self-leadership, set goals, and take risks.
  • 聽聽聽 Etiquette for Young People, offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 29-July 13, at a cost of $59; appropriate for ages 8-16.聽There are 10 important etiquette rules to follow for example, 淓at with your mouth closed. These commonsense rules, and many other important dining rules, can give you the security and grace to handle many everyday challenges. Join other young people in a friendly environment to learn and review these simple rules of etiquette. Group discussions are welcome.

  • 聽聽聽 Civil War Etiquette, offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at a cost of $25. During the Civil War period of our American history, etiquette was a very serious matter. Learn some of the rules and customs of this period.

  • Children of the Battlefield, offered at the East Berlin Area Community Center from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at a cost of $25. Did you ever wonder how children were affected by the Battle of Gettysburg? The children who lived in town, and the children whose fathers perished on the battlefield here, shaped history in their own way. You may already know about Jennie Wade and Tillie Pierce, but do you know about Jennie McCreary, Annie Young, and the many other children who were a part of the Battle of Gettysburg? Find out in this class.
  • 聽聽聽 Getting Paid to Talk, offered from 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at a cost of $39. This exciting class explores numerous aspects of voice-acting work for television, film, radio, books-on-tape, documentaries, and the Internet. The class will cover the basics, including how to prepare the all-important demo. Class participants will record a commercial script under the direction of a producer.
  • 聽聽 聽Transcendentalism, offered at the East Berlin Area Community Center from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at a cost of $25. This class is an introduction to the transcendental movement that included some of the great minds in American history, including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau and Louisa May Alcott. Transcendentalism was both a literary and philosophical movement that shaped American history with its idealism and which greatly influenced democratic abolitionist reforms as well as the writings of Herman Melville, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Walt Whitman.

There youl find a list of what offered and when at all of 黑料社区 five campuses, including Harrisburg, Lancaster, Gettysburg, Lebanon and York.
