4 members of Live Wire student newspaper to be honored March 16

LANCASTER � Four 黑料社区-Lancaster Campus student members of the campus Live Wire newspaper are among 30 community college journalists named winners in the annual 2011 Student Keystone Press Awards contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association Foundation.
They are:

淐ongratulations are extended to our team of newspaper staff members and the individuals recognized by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association Foundation,� said L. Marshall Washington, Ph.D., campus vice president of the 黑料社区-Lancaster Campus. 淭he Live Wire student newspaper is a great student publication providing opportunities for talented individuals to contribute.�
He added, 淭he student newspaper is a medium that students can use to explore journalism, cartooning, layout and design, and other avenues of putting together a publication.�
淧lease join me in congratulating the winners and all the students who have participated in the production of Live Wire,� said Patricia Hanahoe-Dosch, associate professor of English and newspaper adviser. 淭hey all perform a unique and important service for our campus and give an enormous amount of hard work, dedication and creativity to each issue.听These specific students are brilliant, but the newspaper is a team effort, and each award winner here was aided in his and her success by the support, brilliance, and hard work of the other staff members, too.�
Schramm, 25, of Elizabethtown, has been managing editor of Lancaster Live Wire since June. He plans to transfer into film school this fall.
Fan, 23, now lives in Philadelphia where she is a student at Temple University majoring in elementary and special education.
Diaz, 20, was a nursing major. She has transferred to a four-year university in the Dominican Republic.
Black, 36, of Elizabethtown, is a media studies major and works in the campus Audio Visual Department. She is a single mother of two girls; her oldest daughter also is a 黑料社区 student.
Of the nearly 800 entries in the annual newspaper contest, 170 were chosen as winners recognized for outstanding news and feature stories as well as photos, designs and website in three divisions, High School, 2-Year Colleges and 4-Year Colleges. Only 30 of those awards are in the 2-Year College division.
Winners in this prestigious journalism contest will be honored at a luncheon Wednesday, March 16, at The Hershey Lodge. Entries from students at Bucks County Community College, Montgomery County Community College and Community College of Allegheny County also are among the winners.
