GETTYSBURG Satisfy your thirst for knowledge and meet new friends at the Living & Learning seminars presented by the Gettysburg Campus of , Central Pennsylvania Community College.
More than two dozen seminars will be offered during the daylong event from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at the campus, 731 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg.
Living & Learning includes continental breakfast, buffet luncheon and three 90-minute courses, ranging from history and art to personal enrichment topics.
The cost is $49 with a registration deadline of March 1. After reviewing the courses, participants should select one course for each of the three sessions, listing a second choice as well. For more detailed information or to register with your first and second choices, call 717-338-1010.
The lineup of sessions includes:
Session I (8:30-10 a.m.) Well-behaved Women Rarely Make History, Songs and Stories of the Civil War, Learn How to Make a Beaded Bracelet/Necklace, The Gift of Louis Armstrong, Colors and Scents, The First Americans, Samuel Wallis: Expert Spy of the Susquehanna, and Word Histories, Myths and Mysteries.
Session II (10:15-11:45 a.m.) A Man of Courage, Conviction and Principle: Thomas Becket, The Joller Story: Life in a Company Coal Mine and Village, Songs and Stories of the Civil War, Learn How to Make a Beaded Bracelet/Necklace, Billie Holiday: God Bless the Child, The Archaeology of Jamestown, Aaron Burr: Master of Duplicity, Cultural Literacy, and Why are You Wearing Those Colors?
Session III (12:30-2 p.m.) Well-behaved Women Rarely Make History, Canals and Canal Life Around the Susquehanna River Basin, Songs and Stories of the Civil War, Learn How to Make a Beaded Bracelet/Necklace, Duke Ellington: Blessed, Technological Advances in Battlefield Archaeology, James Wilkinson: Connoisseur of Treason, The 1960s, and Why are You Wearing Those Colors?
