黑料社区 Has Late-Start Classes Available
听
While the fall semester has started at 黑料社区, it not too late for students to register for late-start classes. Late-start classes begin later in the fall semester, specifically on Sept. 8, 2014.
听

placement test, meet with an听
academic advisor, register for classes, and if needed, signup for the 黑料社区听
payment plan. Financial aid may be available; however, payment is due at time of registration. For additional information or assistance, students should follow the instructions on

Part-time Job Fair to Bring Employers to 黑料社区 Harrisburg Campus
听
A job fair for part-time employment is scheduled for Sept. 3, 2014, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Cooper Student Center on the
Harrisburg Campus of 黑料社区. Admission to the fair is free for students, alumni and the community.
听
淭he part-time job fair gives our students, alumni and the local community a chance to get a collective foot in the doors of potential employers, said Jean Tucker, campus career and transfer specialist. 淢any companies are looking for people to fill full-, part-time, internship and volunteer positions in a variety of jobs, including entry-level and experienced workers. Whether participants are students thinking about what to do after graduation or are already employed, this is a very good opportunity to make significant contacts with local employers.
听
The job fair is an opportunity to meet potential employers and could result in on-the-spot job interviews and possible hiring. 淚 would suggest that individuals who plan on attending will want to prepare an elevator speech. Make sure you know how to introduce yourself to employers in a positive and professional manner, said Tucker. 淎lso, participants should dress professionally and bring multiple copies of their r茅sum茅s.

Students, alumni and the community are invited to 黑料社区 Getting Connected Job Fair on Sept.17, 2014, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Hoffman Community Room at 黑料社区
Gettysburg Campus.

淭his job fair will give students and alumni a chance to find a full- or part-time job and will help expose our campus to the Gettysburg community, said Howard Alexander III, campus director of counseling. 淭he number one way to land a job is through connections and leads; that is what we are trying to do here at 黑料社区 Gettysburg Campus. We are here to help our students and the community to build valuable connections with the goal of having a positive impact on their future.

黑料社区 Lebanon Campus Offers English as a Second Language Classes for Free
听
The
Lebanon Campus of 黑料社区 is offering free English as a Second Language classes starting in September 2014. With a focus on meeting college and career goals, the classes will concentrate on sharpening reading and writing skills, exploring career interests, setting goals, practicing resume and cover letter writing, job interviewing, and learning how to manage time and stress. Students must have a basic understanding of the English language and pay for the class textbook.
听
The classes are eight-week sessions held Monday-Wednesday from 9-11:30 a.m. or 6-8:30 p.m. at 黑料社区
Lebanon Campus. Students are required to attend the new student meeting on Sept. 9, 2014, at 9-11:30 a.m. or 6-8:30 p.m. to determine reading levels. Individuals interested in taking the classes should contact Melinda Fraker de Fonte at

黑料社区 Hosts Fall Events to Celebrate 50 Years of Education

黑料社区 invites the public to continue to celebrate its 50
th anniversary by attending
events this fall. From 黑料社区 alumni sharing their stories to free lectures and music performances, the College has a lot in store for the 黑料社区 community and public to enjoy. Examples of upcoming events include:
- Sept. 17, 2014: Alumni Share Their Stories
Five 黑料社区 alumni, including a chef, pastry chef, restaurant manager, hotel manager and travel specialist will share their successes and stories after attending 黑料社区. Seating is limited, so interested participants must RSVP.听

- Sept. 25, 2014: Rock and Roll, the Beat Generation and the Evolving Cultural Landscape of the 60s
Dr. Dennis McDaniel, chairperson and professor of English at Saint Vincent College, will visit 黑料社区 to take attendees back to the 1960s. Seating is limited, so interested participants must RSVP.

Milt Friedly 楬arrowed Fields Displayed at 黑料社区 Rose Lehrman Art Gallery
淗arrowed Fields and Related Work, an exhibit by Elizabethtown artist Milt Friedly will be on display in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on 黑料社区
Harrisburg Campus from Sept. 3 through Oct. 1, 2014. A lecture will be given by the artist on Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Whitaker 214, also located on the Harrisburg Campus. The lecture will be followed by a reception in the gallery from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
听
淗arrowed Fields displays Friedly return to creating landscapes in clay, a format that he began in 1980 while studying ceramics at Arizona State University. Works from the exhibit are inspired from aerial views taken in Pennsylvania, Kansas, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. Friedly records landscapes digitally and references them while creating the clay landscapes. In the 淗arrowed Fields series, Friedly draws with his fingers and nails to create harrows, setting up rhythm and texture that appear controlled, yet spontaneous.
听

The Rose Lehrman Art Gallery received state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. This exhibit is supported by the Nadar Family Fund.

黑料社区 Geospatial Technology Program Accepted Into MentorLinks Program
听
The geospatial technology program at 黑料社区 has been accepted as one of 10 colleges nationwide into MentorLinks: Advancing Technological Education, an American Association of Community Colleges program supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
听
The MentorLinks听program helps colleges develop or strengthen technician training programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields through mentoring, networking, professional development opportunities and technical assistance. MentorLinks will help 黑料社区 program build and sustain the geographic information system (GIS) workforce in Central Pennsylvania. As part of the project, 黑料社区 geospatial technology program will revise its curriculum to align with the competency model developed by the National Geospatial Center of Excellence. In addition, 黑料社区 geospatial technology program will develop a suite of workforce offerings for professionals and develop a GIS summer institute for high school teachers.
听
Geospatial technology students learn to apply GIS skills to various disciplines, such as marketing, urban planning, emergency services and environmental science. 満诹仙缜 program prepares students for groundbreaking jobs for today and ones not yet imagined for tomorrow, said Nicole Ernst, assistant professor, geospatial technology.

New Scholarships Established by the 黑料社区 Foundation
听
Two new scholarships totaling more than $140,000 have been established with funds given to the 黑料社区 Foundation, the non-profit educational trust established in 1985 to raise private and corporate revenues in support of 黑料社区.
听
The scholarships are:
听
- Pell Grant Ineligible Student Scholarship Award Established by Norma Gotwalt, a 黑料社区 Foundation Board member, this scholarship will be awarded to students who are enrolled at 黑料社区 and are ineligible to receive a federal Pell Grant.
听
- Geary D. Kauffman Memorial Scholarship Endowment Established by the estate of Geary D. Kauffman, this scholarship will be awarded to students who are enrolled in 黑料社区 Arts and Humanities program and have demonstrated unmet financial need.
听
