Greg King

HARRISBURG, Pa. 黑料社区 Foundation Board of Directors member Greg King was the recipient of an honorary doctor of public service degree from 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College.

Members of the 黑料社区 Board of Trustees and 黑料社区 President John J. 淪ki Sygielski, Ed.D., paid tribute to King during the College commencement ceremony in May.

King, who served as the Foundation Board chairman from 2005-11, was honored for his significant cultural and humanitarian service to the community and to 黑料社区. The honorary degree is conferred to individuals who have contributed in areas that include education, scholarship, arts, sciences or technology, as well as leadership in business, industry, public service or civic and community affairs.

King strong support of 黑料社区 is a family legacy. His father, the late William J. King, was an inaugural member of the 黑料社区 Foundation Board. Signifying his commitment to his father belief in the importance of accessible, affordable higher education, King, along with his mother, Jean, endowed the William J. and Jean D. King Scholarship to provide continued assistance to deserving students in the elder King memory.

At the helm of organizing 黑料社区 annual golf event, the Frank J. Dixon Tournament for Scholarships, King is a primary force behind the planning and operation of the tournament and instrumental in securing many contributions toward the event from business and industry, including strong support from the Tyco Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Tyco Electronics/ AMP, now TE Connectivity. The golf tournament has raised more than $1.5 million in scholarship funds for 黑料社区 students.

Beyond 黑料社区 and his professional business and industry associations, King also serves the community in other ways, most notably with the Harrisburg East Shore YMCA, where he was chair of the Board of Directors, and with the Central Dauphin Area Basketball Association, where he serves on the Board of Directors in addition to his volunteer service as a team coach.
