ºÚÁÏÉçÇø Students Named to 2014 All-PA Community College Academic Team

HARRISBURG, Pa. “ Seven students from ºÚÁÏÉçÇø, Central Pennsylvania Community College, were named to the 2014 All-PA Community College Academic Team.

The awards program recognizes an exceptional group of community college students who have achieved academic excellence and demonstrated a commitment to their colleges and communities. This year All-PA Team consists of 45 outstanding community college students from across Pennsylvania. The program is administered by Phi Theta Kappa, the national two-year college honors society, through a partnership with the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges.

In addition to being named to the All-PA team, ºÚÁÏÉçÇø students Jessica Schwankl and Heather Venezia were awarded scholarships from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) to be used at any of the 14 PASSHE universities.

ºÚÁÏÉçÇø All-PA Team members included:

Stephanie Delp, of Dover, is a business major at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. A 39-year-old mother of two daughters, Delp became passionate about the fight against cancer after the loss of her father. She came to ºÚÁÏÉçÇø to pursue a business degree in the hopes of one day working for the American Cancer Society (ACS). Delp is an active Phi Theta Kappa member working toward graduation and recently began working as a Relay for Life Specialist at the ACS office in Lancaster.

Susanna Earley, of Carlisle, is a civil and environmental engineering major at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. She plans to transfer to Penn State University in summer 2014 to complete her bachelor degree, before continuing for her master degree.

Erika Putt, of Elizabethtown, will graduate in fall 2014 with an associate degree in police science. She has made the Dean list with highest honors every term since enrolling at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. Putt plans to attend Albright College or Elizabethtown College to pursue a dual degree in criminal justice and psychology. She is also a Certified Veterinarian Assistant, a member of Phi Theta Kappa and volunteers for a local no-kill animal shelter.

Jessica Schwankl, of Ephrata, is currently attending Millersville University, pursuing a bachelor degree in sociology with a focus in criminology and anthropology. Upon graduation, she hopes to pursue a master degree and work for the federal government.

Brandy Stabley, of Red Lion, is a registered nursing major at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. Stabley is active in Phi Theta Kappa and the Student Government Association at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. She is striving to graduate with highest honors and obtain employment in a fast-paced medical facility where she can utilize her leadership skills and abilities.

Heather Venezia, of Lancaster, will graduate from ºÚÁÏÉçÇø in May 2014 with an Associate in Arts in psychology and will attend Millersville University to major in psychology and minor in sociology. After obtaining her bachelor degree, she hopes to pursue additional higher education and one day teach psychology at the college level and treat patients.

Brandon Wagner, of York Springs, is a psychology major at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. In the future, he hopes to enter the military through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at Shippensburg University. Wagner hopes to become an Army officer and pursue a military career or continue his education to enter the field of psychology. He also hopes to one day become a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
