Jan. 8, 2014
HARRISBURG, Pa. Three inductees to the 2023-14 黑料社区 Hawk Athletic Hall of Fame will be recognized during a ceremony Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the Evans Center on the Harrisburg Campus of 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College.
The ceremony will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. during the half time of the men basketball game with Luzerne County Community College team. 黑料社区 President John J. 淪ki Sygielski, Ed.D., will introduce the inductees.
Inductees are Kristi Becker, Glen Lum and Amanda Wade-Flynn.
Becker is being recognized for her performance as a student-athlete who excelled on the basketball court and in the classroom. 淎s a high-energy leader, her teammates looked to her for advice, support and to take over on the court when needed, wrote her nominators, Michelle Kieff and Mike Verotsky, coaches of the women basketball team.
淪he was the key in our full court press losing was not an option. She gave 110 percent in whatever she was doing. Every practice was like a game to her. And she viewed her academics the same way.
Becker graduated from 黑料社区 with an associate degree in surgical technology in spring 2007 with a 3.93 grade point average. She was a member of the 2003-04 team, which had a 21-3 record. The team earned the EPCC North Division championship and was second in the EPCC tournament playoffs.
Lum is being recognized for his significant support of the 黑料社区 intercollegiate sports program since its inception in 2001. 淗is contribution to our team and 黑料社区 athletics is invaluable, wrote nominators Kieff and Verotsky.
Lum, who was the College director of institutional research for a number of years, has been a member of the women basketball team staff since the program was established in 2002. He has volunteered as scorekeeper of the men and women basketball games on the home court, providing individual player statistics. A year ago, Lum also volunteered to drive the women basketball team to away games, keep the scorebook and provide half-time statistics.
Wade-Flynn is being recognized for her performance as a student-athlete on the women volleyball team for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. The team, which earned an 11-2 record both seasons, went on to EPCC titles. 淏oth seasons were steps ahead for the program, wrote nominator Mark Spoonhour, women volleyball coach. 淪he was a natural leader and brought competitiveness to the gym on a regular basis and helped to make the players around her better.
Wade-Flynn went on to excel at Penn State/Harrisburg and is now an assistant coach there.
