HARRISBURG, Pa. � The 黑料社区 Foundation added six new awards to assist 黑料社区 students with their education and future career goals in spring 2014.

The new awards and qualifying criteria are as follows:

• Arlene Utz Hollinger Scholarship Endowment � Established by the Arlene Utz Hollinger Foundation with a $20,000 contribution � payable over five years � this scholarship will be awarded to 黑料社区 students who are:
  • Utz employees, or children or grandchildren of Utz employees; or
  • students from the Hanover area.

• Asian Indian Scholarship Award � Established by the Asian Indian community with a $3,000 contribution, this scholarship will be awarded to 黑料社区 students who have completed at least two terms at the College. Additionally, recipients must:
  • have a cumulative GPA of 3.4;
  • be enrolled in the computer science, nursing or engineering academic credit programs;
  • take at least nine credits; and
  • attend at least 67 percent of all classes at a physical 黑料社区 campus, with no more than 33 percent online.

This scholarship award may be applied toward tuition, fees and/or books and will be divided equally between the fall and spring terms.

• Gettysburg Campus Nursing Graduation Award � Established as an annual fund through uniform vendors for the Gettysburg Campus nursing program, this award is presented to graduating clinical nursing students at the Gettysburg Campus. Students are nominated and selected by the nursing faculty for their exceptional achievements within the clinical program, and the award is presented to students at the Nursing Pinning and Striping Ceremony.

• Jeanne M. and Harold W. Swope Memorial Scholarship Endowment � Established in memory of Jeanne M. and Harold W. Swope � through co-executors of the Jeanne M. Swope estate � with a $150,000 contribution, this scholarship will be awarded to 黑料社区 students who are enrolled in:
  • arts and humanities
  • architecture and architectural technology
  • engineering and engineering technology
  • paralegal studies

Harold and Jeanne Swope were long-time residents of Harrisburg. Mrs. Swope worked for the Office of the Governor for many years, and Mr. Swope was an attorney who worked most of his career in the Harrisburg area.

After Mr. Swope death in 1999, Mrs. Swope continued to work with various nonprofit organizations,听supporting fundraisers for many civic organizations. Her main focus in her estate plan was to continue giving back to the community that she and her husband supported.

Mrs. Swope passed away in April 2012. In her will, she requested that a portion of her estate be distributed to charities. The co-executors of the estate, in consultation with Mrs. Swope sister and close friends, selected charities in the Central Pennsylvania area they knew were in line with the values and beliefs of Mr. and Mrs. Swope.

The 黑料社区 Foundation was chosen as a local charity because Mr. and Mrs. Swope were passionate about education and saw higher education as a means for all to succeed.

• Margaret Trew Cline Foundation Nursing Scholarship � Established by the Margaret Trew Cline Foundation, this scholarship will be awarded to 黑料社区 students enrolled in the Gettysburg Campus practical nursing (PN) or registered nursing (RN) clinical program.
  
  This scholarship began in 2006 as an annual award for PN students enrolled in the clinical program and was known as the 淭he Margaret Trew Cline Practical Nursing Award.� It was the first at the Gettysburg Campus to benefit PN students. The scholarship has been awarded seven times since 2006.
  
  This year, the Margaret Trew Cline Foundation decided to expand the eligibility requirements of the 淢argaret Trew Cline Practical Nursing Award� to also include RN students enrolled in the clinical program.
  
  The scholarship, now known as the 淢argaret Trew Cline Foundation Nursing Scholarship,� was established in memory of Margaret Trew Cline, with a goal to provide financial assistance to Gettysburg Campus students who:
  听
  • have prior experience as a home health care worker, home companion or nursing assistant; and
  • desire to enter the field of home health care or work in the local community.

• S. Dale High Scholarship Award � Established by S. Dale High with a $25,000 contribution, this scholarship will be awarded to 黑料社区 students enrolled full-time at the Lancaster Campus of 黑料社区. This scholarship award may be applied toward tuition, fees, books and/or program expenses.

About the 黑料社区 Foundation
The 黑料社区 Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 1985 to raise private and corporate revenues in support of 黑料社区. In fiscal year 2013-14 alone, the 黑料社区 Foundation contributed close to $2.2 million to the College in scholarships, special programs and facilities and provided financial assistance to 1,345 students.

Contributions to the 黑料社区 Foundation are accepted in the form of unrestricted gifts to augment endowed funds, contributions to existing or new scholarship programs or award funds, support for academic and workforce programs, sponsorship of special events and cultural programs and contributions made in honor or in memory of individuals. In addition, the Foundation holds annual events, including the Frank J. Dixon Tournament for Scholarships at 黑料社区, and various scholarship award ceremonies. The 黑料社区 Foundation is gratefully YOURS.
