Classes Forming for 黑料社区 Re-Entry Program for Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses
听
黑料社区听is forming classes for the spring 2015 registered nurse/licensed practical nurse re-entry program.听
听
The re-entry program is designed for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses who are working to reinstate their nursing license or update their knowledge and skills. The spring program begins March 30, 2015, at the Harrisburg Campus. The program will also be offered in the fall, with classes beginning in September 2015.
听
Through clinical experience and classroom lectures, nurses will have the opportunity to refresh their skills, build their confidence and gain insight into new techniques and technology. The curriculum focuses on the nursing process, current nursing practices, trends, ethical and legal issues, pharmacology and clinical management of patients. Attention is given to a variety of aspects, including assessment skills, care plans, infection control, technological advancements, quality assurance and drug administration.
听
The program is completed in eight weeks, with 88 hours of classroom instruction and 124 hours of clinical work. Classes are held at 黑料社区 Harrisburg Campus. Off-site clinical experiences are held at Hershey Medical Center, a visiting nursing association (VNA) or a local nursing home. 听
听

• Acid base balance - fluid and electrolytes
• Care of clients with:
  • Cancer
  • Cardiopulmonary disorders
  • Gastro-intestinal disorders
  • Musculoskeletal disorders
  • Neurological disorders
  • Renal disease
• Diabetic update
• Nursing and the law
• Pharmacology update
• Pre-, intra- and post-operative nursing
• Scope of medical-surgical nursing

The fee for the course is $2,675, plus the cost of textbooks. To be admitted to the program, prospective students must have a valid Pennsylvania registered nurse/licensed practice nurse license and a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. In addition, they must obtain malpractice insurance, complete a physical examination and a two-step purified protein derivative (PPD) lab test, provide current immunization status and health insurance information and agree to a Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check.听

黑料社区 President Receives Drum Major for Justice Award for Support of STEM Education
听
黑料社区 President John J. 淪ki� Sygielski, Ed.D., recently received a Drum Major for Justice Award for his support of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in minority communities.
听
The award was presented by Apostle Dr. A.E. Sullivan Jr., president, the Interdenominational Ministers Conference of Greater Harrisburg, during the organization 38^th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast.
听
Dr. Sygielski joined hundreds of Harrisburg area residents who gathered Jan. 17, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Steelton to celebrate and honor the life of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
