黑料社区 to Offer Online Associate Degree in Gerontology
Starting fall 2015, students can earn a degree in one of the fastest growing careers in healthcare

Gerontology, the study of the aging process from middle age through later life, is among the fastest growing careers in healthcare. Students interested in this field can take advantage of a new fully online associate in arts degree in gerontology offered at 黑料社区 starting in the fall 2015 term.

Students who enroll in 黑料社区 online gerontology program can:
  • Complete an associate degree on your time schedule, which allows you to work and combine study as it fits into your lifestyle
  • Start by enrolling in the associate degree gerontology program or transfer credits you檝e already earned if you previously completed 黑料社区 gerontology certificate program
  • Get the training and skills needed to enter positions in this high-demand field in the healthcare industry
  • Prepare to transfer into bachelor degree programs at a four-year college or university

The need for an aging services workforce will continue to grow as the population continues to age in Pennsylvania, across the nation and around the world. Gerontology specialists are needed nursing homes, assisted living homes, retirement communities, aging caregiver services and social work agencies.

Professionals in the field of aging work in a variety of settings, according to the . These include:
  • Community, human services and religious organizations
  • Health care and long-term care institutions

Live at Rose Lehrman Celebrates 40th Anniversary of Rose Lehrman Arts Center with the Brubeck Brothers Quartet

Live at Rose Lehrman final performance of the 2014-15 season will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Rose Lehrman Arts Center with the Brubeck Brothers Quartet on April 25, 2015, at 8 p.m. in the center on 黑料社区听Harrisburg Campus.

In April 1975, Dave Brubeck and Sons performed at the grand opening and dedication of the Rose Lehrman Arts Center. The Live at Rose Lehrman artist series brings back to 黑料社区 stage two of the legendary jazz pianist sons: Daniel Brubeck on drums and Chris Brubeck on bass and trombone. Together, with Mike DeMicco on guitar and Chuck Lamb on the piano, they will perform jazz standards, original material and Dave Brubeck classics. A reception for all patrons will follow the concert. It will be held in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center Rose Garden.

Performance sponsors include Lois Lehrman Grass Foundation, 黑料社区 Foundation, Richmond Foundation, McCormick Family Foundation and The Foundation for Enhancing Communities Rose Lehrman fund. Community support is provided by Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz. The media sponsors are abc27 and WJAZ.

New Richard J. McLaren Scholarship Endowment Helps 黑料社区 Students in Languages, Music, Arts 黑料社区

A generous contribution from the late Richard J. McLaren recently established the Richard J. McLaren Scholarship Endowment to benefit students at 黑料社区 for generations to come.

McLaren, who passed away in March 2007, was single with no children. The 黑料社区 Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to raise private contributions in support of 黑料社区, received the life-changing contribution of more than $620,000 from his estate.

The Richard J. McLaren Scholarship Endowment will provide assistance to students with unmet financial need who are enrolled in languages, music and/or theatre programs at 黑料社区. Funds may be applied toward tuition, fees and/or books.


黑料社区 Hires New Director of Military and Veterans Affairs

Dean Myers has joined 黑料社区 as the College new director of military and veteran affairs. Myers comes to 黑料社区 as a retired Marine Corps captain with 25 years of service and experience teaching at Vanderbilt University. Most recently, he was a disabled veteran outreach program specialist with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.听

Myers will oversee 黑料社区 military and veterans affairs office, which serves veterans, eligible dependents and members of the National Guard, Reserve and active duty personnel. 黑料社区 has the second largest veteran and military student population among Pennsylvania institutions of higher education.


黑料社区 Lancaster Campus Hosts Community Health Fair

黑料社区 will host a community health fair on April 29, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 黑料社区 Lancaster Campus in Room 203 of the East Building.

The fair is free and open to the public. Community members can enjoy and benefit from the following free services and activities:
  • Health screenings, including blood pressure, blood glucose and bone density scanning, conducted by 黑料社区 nursing, radiologic technology and cardiovascular technology students
  • Chair massages
  • Information from more than 20 local wellness organizations, including Health Depot Pharmacy, Lancaster General Hospital, Pennsylvania State Police, SouthEast Lancaster Health Services, Universal Athletic Club and the YWCA Lancaster
  • Raffle prizes and drawings
  • Light refreshments
