Live at Rose Lehrman Announces 2016-17 Performance Lineup

HARRISBURG, Pa. The Live at Rose Lehrman (LARL) 2016-17 season begins Sept. 21, 2016, with Houston-based at the Harrisburg Campus of 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College.

Using a contemporary mix of choreography and popular music, Soul Street Dance delivers an athletic, well-crafted and dynamic performance for all ages to enjoy. This performance is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.

The group is part of the Arts Envoys international touring program through the U.S. Department of . The group has performed in various countries, including the former Soviet Union, Mexico and Haiti. Members of the group also have appeared in film and on television and performed with the National Basketball Association Houston Rockets Launch Crew.

From hip-hop to Broadway, the 2016-17 season performances also 听include dance, music and theatre. Other season performances include:

PUSH Physical Theatre Oct. 6, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.
New York-based PUSH Physical Theatre expresses what it means to be human: the joy and sorrow, humor and tragedy. Performers bring the narratives of people lives to the stage with hope and optimism.

Tartan Terrors Nov. 30, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.
In a perfect mix of music and dance, the Tartan Terrors mix rock energy with traditional folklore. This performance features the tune of classic pipes and fiddle, drum tones and signature guitar styles.

ODC/Dance Jan. 25, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.
Known worldwide for its athleticism, passion and intellectual depth, the California-based group brings its unique flair to Harrisburg.

Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars Feb. 16, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.
Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars is a musical group that formed during the Sierra Leone Civil War. Their work has shown them the healing power of music.

Broadway Next H!T Musical March 29, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.
Broadway Next H!T Musical is a theatrical awards show with a twist! Master improvisers gather made-up song suggestions from the audience and create a spontaneous evening of music, humor and laughter.

Gettysburg Campus Offers Community Education Series

GETTYSBURG, Pa. Life-long learners can choose from more than 20 classes on a variety of topics in a new Community Education Series this fall 2016 at the Gettysburg Campus of 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College.

The series, which runs on Fridays from Sept. 9-Nov. 18 in a short workshop format, includes classes that will expand knowledge in the arts, politics, history or finances; improve computer skills; or provide fascinating facts for trivia nights with friends. Topics include:

  • 淲hat New in Windows 10?
  • 淗ow Do We Get Loose? 楶lato Cave
  • 淚t the End of the World, and I Feel Fine
  • 淗ow Gettysburg Helped Win World War I from Home
  • 淐reate a Movie with Digital Pictures

淔ew of us find enough time for ourselves. Life is busy and full of chores, challenges and commitments. Still, we all instinctively know that time spent on our own enrichment serves everyone in our lives, said Shannon Harvey, vice president of 黑料社区 Gettysburg Campus.

淗ealth requires nourishment. Brain health requires learning. 黑料社区 Community Education Series is an opportunity to nourish your brain and enrich your life, she added. 淵ou choose the topics that interest you the most.

  • One day (two sessions) - $25

Woven Canvas Exhibit at 黑料社区 Gettysburg Campus
Exhibit runs through Sept. 29, 2016

GETTYSBURG, Pa. 淚ntersections, a collection of woven canvas by Harrisburg , is on display through Sept. 29, 2016, in the Art Exhibit Hallway of the Gettysburg Campus of 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College.

The public is encouraged to meet the artist and learn about her work at a reception on Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. The exhibit is open to the public Monday-Friday from听8 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

Owens is a self-taught artist and craftswoman whose lifelong fascination with fiber, color and structure is expressed in canvas woven of various weights of paper colored with acrylic media.
She creates images at least twice in acrylic on paper and deconstructs completed paintings in order to create new woven works. The finished works resemble tile mosaics and pixilated photographs.
