The pre-filled bags, valued at $10 each, were provided on a first-come, first-served basis. A total of 305 bags were distributed to students.
Megan Kopitsky, president of the Student Government Association (SGA), said, The SGA felt compelled to support this program because we saw our peers struggling and knew that we were in a position to help. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to support and enhance the student experience, and with so many of our students struggling to make ends meet in light of the pandemic, it was a no-brainer we were eager to invest in our community in a way that would profoundly impact and help students.
Thanks to the student leaders in Student Government Association, their peers have access to additional food during these difficult times.
