Discover Untold Stories at 黑料社区 New Works Festival 5x7

HARRISBURG, Pa. The sixth annual New Works Festival at 黑料社区, Central Pennsylvania Community College, presents the world premiere of two brand-new plays shot as film.聽Starring 黑料社区 students, the festival presents the following for the public to stream April 20-23, 2023.

  • 淐丑补谤濒别测/狈颈办/颁丑补谤濒颈别/狈颈肠办, by , follows the intersecting stories of two couples, Charley and Nik, the younger, navigating the stresses of a closeted romance, and Charlie and Nick, the older, experiencing young adult life post-coming out. 淐harley/Nik/Charlie/Nick explores the intersections of privilege, identity and faith in our world today.
  • 淭o Kill or Not to Kill, by , tells the story of an escaped convict intent on revenge. He kidnaps his ex-wife and takes her to a mountain hideaway only to discover it is occupied by an artificial intelligence (AI) on the run, who refuses to be the killing machine his developers envisioned.


Dave Olmsted, 黑料社区 assistant professor of film and theatre, said, 淲e are very excited for this year festival as it will be the first time that students in our new Film and Theatre Program will get to work on a film set. While written as plays, this year festival winners will have their works transformed into cinema. Which in turn will provide hands-on experience for our film and theatre students both on camera and behind the scenes. Technical students will work in the capacity of camera operators, grips, boom operators and editors. While our acting students will garner valuable on-camera experience.
