ºÚÁÏÉçÇø Statement on Faculty Union Membership Authorizing Executive Committee to Strike

Oct. 2, 2025

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The membership of the Harrisburg Area Community College Education Association (ºÚÁÏÉçÇøEA) - the union that represents the faculty at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø, Central Pennsylvania Community College - voted on Oct. 2, 2025, to authorize the executive committee of the union to call a strike in the event an agreement cannot be reached.

ºÚÁÏÉçÇø is disappointed by this decision. If a strike is called, it will directly and negatively impact ºÚÁÏÉçÇø students who work hard to reach their educational goals at the College. The College remains committed to bargaining in good faith and continues to work toward a mutually acceptable collective bargaining agreement.

We firmly believe that the responsibility for shaping the terms of such an agreement - including matters related to wages, hours and working conditions - belongs to the negotiating parties. It remains our hope that both sides will come together to resolve our issues amicably to ensure our students™ learning is not disrupted, especially since all of us support the College and our students.

Please note the following definitions:

  • The ºÚÁÏÉçÇøEA is the union that represents the faculty employed by ºÚÁÏÉçÇø.
  • The Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) is the organization that represents the faculty union (ºÚÁÏÉçÇøEA). It does not employ ºÚÁÏÉçÇø faculty.
